All the tech people have been talking about Meerkat, an app that allows you to livestream video over Twitter. Because nobody’s learned the lesson that contains. And so everyone fell over when Twitter itself bought Periscope, an app that roughly emulates what Meerkat does. The ability to livestream video in Twitter will therefore eventually be baked into Twitter, and Meerkat will die. Because that’s what happens when your company is essentially a parasite mounted on someone else’s service. Sooner or later you will be shaken free and crushed under their hooves.
